Make Room For Nature

Why Make Room for Nature?

As Canadians, nature is something we all value. Enjoying Canada’s incredible land and ocean for the beauty and adventure they offer is part of who we are. From providing clean air and water to protecting biodiversity, and to supporting Indigenous communities and local economies, Canada’s natural areas play a vital role in all our lives.

The increased protection of natural areas is critical to restoring the health and abundance of species and helping nature be more resilient to the impacts of climate change. We cannot ignore the reality that species are in rapid decline, and some are at a very real risk of disappearing altogether. But we can stem the decline now!

Our federal government has committed to protecting 25% of Canada’s land and ocean by 2025, and 30% by 2030. With this commitment and meaningful action, Canada has the opportunity to become a global leader in nature conservation.

Take Action!

The pandemic has shown, more than ever, just how essential protected areas and biodiversity are to our well-being.  As a CPAWS supporter, we know you share our love for Canada’s incredible wild spaces and wildlife and recognize the importance of protecting nature.

Our goal is to protect and restore at least half of Canada’s land and ocean. We hope you will join us as a voice for nature as we call on the federal government to invest in its commitment to protect Canada’s vast and renowned natural heritage.
