Yellowstone to Yukon
The Yellowstone to Yukon region stretches 3200 km along the Rocky Mountain chain from Wyoming, USA to the Peel River in Canada's Yukon Territory.
In 1993, CPAWS, working with other groups, helped found the Y2Y Conservation Initiative — an international network of groups and individuals working together to maintain and restore the unique natural heritage of the Yellowstone to Yukon region and the quality of life it affords to residents and visitors.
Our goals:
- expand certain existing parks and protected areas
- establish new protected areas
- improve connections between protected areas
- ensure protected areas are secure and well managed

One of the richest areas of biodiversity in Alberta, and a critical wildlife corridor, yet almost none of the Castle Wilderness is protected and the region is facing growing threats.
