CPAWS, local First Nations, scientists and thousands of Canadians support protecting the entire South Nahanni Watershed as the best way to secure wildlife, clean water and the wilderness values of this remarkable Canadian landscape. Nahanni National Park Reserve, covering nearly 80% of the watershed, falls in the Dehcho First Nations territory, is now permanently expanded.

What's next?
January 2010: Consultations are now underway about the final boundaries for Nááts'ihch'oh National Park Reserve that will protect the Headwaters of the South Nahanni River - the northern 20% of the watershed situated within the Sahtu region.
