Boreal Rendezvous
In the summer of 2003, to focus public attention on Canada's irreplaceable Boreal wilderness heritage, CPAWS organized an amazing cross-Canada river adventure down 10 of our country's most spectacular Boreal wilderness rivers. We called it the Boreal Rendezvous.
Paddlers including Canadian celebrities, members of Native communities, scientists, artists, writers and CPAWS volunteers voyaged down The Wind, Snake and Bonnet Plume Rivers (The Three Rivers Journey), the Coal, Dease, Nahanni, Athabasca, Churchill, Berens and Moisie rivers.
After each journey, the local CPAWS chapter hosted a public closing celebration a fun-filled opportunity to meet the paddlers, share music, entertainment and stories. And at the end of it all, participants from all the expeditions met up in Ottawa with nearly 800 people for a grand Boreal Rendezvous National Celebration.
