CPAWS’ northern B.C conservation success featured in National Geographic
CPAWS Board Member Wayne Sawchuk and the Muskwa Kechika Management Area are featured in the November 2008 issue of National Geographic. Sawchuk, with then CPAWS National Conservation Director, George Smith, were central in achieving one of CPAWS\' greatest conservation victories in the 1990s - the establishment of a 6.4 million hectare special management area in northern British Columbia. The article eloquently portrays the wild heart of the region, and accurately depicts the perseverance and collaboration of Sawchuk, Smith and others that made the MK such an innovative and successful campaign.
Wayne Sawchuk, National Geographic author John Vaillant and photographer Michael Christopher Brown will speak on November 5, 2008 at the Banff Film Festival about their month-long adventure in the MK:
