CPAWS National Board of Trustees Nominees 2014 Notice

Are you passionate about Canadian wilderness and looking for an exciting opportunity to get involved with one of Canada’s leading environmental organizations? CPAWS is now seeking nominations for three new Trustees to replace those completing their terms of service in 2014.

A leader in the conservation community, CPAWS has 50 years of wilderness conservation experience at local, regional, and national levels, working from the ground up to provide Chapter-level initiative and expertise along with national oversight and leadership. Predominantly a policy governance board, our National Trustees provide an engaging mix of skills, backgrounds and connections to advance our campaigns on national wilderness planning and conservation issues.

This year we especially seek nominees from the Maritimes, Prairie or Quebec regions, and those with an indigenous background, and with expertise in one or more of the following areas: conservation planning and/or campaign planning and delivery, fund development, major donor and government relationships, communications, human resources, and corporate/private sector legal practice experience. At least one of the new Trustees must have CPAWS Chapter experience. Bilingualism is an asset.  Prior board experience is desired but not required.

NOMINATIONS ARE DUE MARCH 31, 2014

A slate of nominees will be selected by the Board by the end of May 2014, and presented to Members for their approval at the Annual General Meeting on September 29th. We are seeking nominees who will help to ensure, through their range of skills and experience, that the CPAWS National Board fulfills its mission in expanding and advancing the protection of Canadian wilderness areas.

If you’re interested in this opportunity, please send your resume or field inquiries as soon as possible to Susan Ellis, Chair of the Nominations Committee at ellisinc@gmail.com. The committee is also keen to learn of people who might be a good fit, so please pass on names and contact information to the same email.

Thank you for your interest and ongoing support of CPAWS and our amazing and essential Canadian wilderness.
