Once again this year, we invite you to share YOUR love of the land through our fourth annual Photo Contest. Submit your photos from across the NWT for a chance to have your image published in our 2016 Love the Land Calendar.

LKDFN and GNWT issue press releases on Thaidene Nene progress
Exciting news from both the LKDFN and the GNWT about their significant progress together towards establishing Thaidene Nene! Both governments have issued press releases this week, detailing their collaborative work on this made-in-the-north protected area, as well as many of the benefits that Thaidene Nene will bring to NWT residents.

CPAWS 2014 Annual Boreal Caribou Report
In its second annual review of governments' efforts to conserve Canada's boreal woodland caribou, the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) finds that threats from industrial development to this species have continued to increase while conservation and restoration efforts have shown little progress across the country.

Mikisew Cree Petitions UNESCO to list Wood Buffalo NP as World Heritage Site in Danger
The Mikisew Cree First Nation is asking UNESCO to place Wood Buffalo National Park on its List of World Heritage Sites in Danger due to growing threats from hydro-electric developments and oil and gas activities. The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) and other concerned groups are supporting the petition.

Two gorgeous, limited edition Thaidene Nene posters are now available for purchase. Featuring Thaidene Nene through the seasons, the images were selected from entries to our 2014 Love the Land Photo Contest. Posters are large format (2' by 3'), and are $20 each. All proceeds support our work with the Lutsel K'e Dene First Nation to communicate the benefits of establishing Thaidene Nene with NWT residents.
