CPAWS greatly concerned about cuts to national parks in NS
The Nova Scotia chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS-NS) is deeply concerned about proposed budget cuts to Parks Canada and what this will mean for the future of national parks in Nova Scotia. The federal government has announced substantial budget cuts and layoffs at Parks Canada in Nova Scotia. It’s expected that Kejimkujik National Park will open for less than five months of the year and scientific staff at both Kejimkujik and Cape Breton Highlands national parks have been similarly cut back. These cuts will greatly reduce the quality of the experience of visiting the parks and also the research and conservation efforts within the parks.
