Federal senate committee echoes CPAWS' plea for marine protection

Ottawa -- In response to a presentation to the Senate Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans by CPAWS National Oceans Program Manager Sabine Jessen and German guest scientist Dr Manfred Krautter on November 21st on a "lost Jurassic Park off the B.C. coast", Committee Deputy Chair Janis Johnson said "Glass sponge reefs are a perfect example of where Canada can do more research on habitat. They are unique in the world and our government needs to commit itself to preserving these ocean environments."
