Put conservation first on Lake Winnipeg's east side

East of Lake Winnipeg is an immense and intact boreal forest ecosystem larger than New Brunswick.

Blessed with rushing rivers and abundant wildlife, East Side lands and waters have enormous global significance for oxygen production, clean water, and climate regulation. The region is traditional territory for many First Nations as well as eagles, bears, foxes, wolverines, moose, and threatened woodland caribou.

The area’s intact boreal forests and potential for sustainable local economies is at risk from short-sighted, forest-destructive developments. Conservation and community driven planning must come first before expansion of industrial developments.
