Schedule and Location
• The course will run from 9:00 to 16:00 Saturday and Sunday.
• We meet in front of the Starbucks at the base of Grouse Mountain at 08:30
• Course material will be provided on Saturday morning.
• There will be one to two hours of actual touring on each day with elevation gains around 200m
Food
• Depending on how the days unfold, we may eat in the cabin or in the field. Please pack a lunch that you can bring along on the trail.
• Portions of the field sessions are not physically very active. A Thermos of hot stuff is a good idea.
Gear
• We will provide avalanche transceivers, probes and shovels. Feel free to bring your own equipment if you have some.
You will need:
- A way to get around (touring skis, split board with skins or snowshoe) Please make sure that your gear is well adjusted and in good working order BEFORE the course.
- A backpack around 30 liters (not much smaller)
- Clothes for the forecasted weather (we’ll spend hours out no matter what)
- It would be a good idea (but not essential) to bring a change of gloves and a puffy jacket
- Something to take notes in the classroom and in the field
- Plenty of food and drinks
Payment
Payment of $50 should be made in cash on Saturday morning. $150 will be paid directly to CPAWS by cheque or credit card.
