Event Overview
Come and learn more about what CPAWS Northern Alberta has been up to over the past year. The meeting will be followed by an open house to give members a chance to meet the chapter’s new Executive Director and current Board of Directors as well as discuss issues and share ideas.
- Date: Tuesday, February 28, 2012
- Time: 7:00pm, Open House to follow
- Location: Downtown Library, Centennial Room (7 Sir Winston Churchill Square)
Proposed Bylaw Change
A minor bylaw change will be voted on at the AGM. Anyone who has donated to the organization within the past twelve-months is eligible to vote. The purpose of this change is to include a dissolution clause within the bylaws to meet the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission’s requirements for a casino license and use of gaming funds. The proposed clause would be added to the chapter’s bylaw as ‘Clause XII’ under a new section called 'Disbursement of Gaming Funds'.
It reads:
"Should CPAWS Northern Alberta dissolve its legal and corporate status, any remaining gaming proceeds, after debts and liabilities have been paid, will be transferred to another charitable or religious organization or transferred in trust to a municipality until such time that the assets can be transferred to a charitable or religious organization. The recipient shall be chosen by resolution of the Board of Directors of the Society."
