In celebration of yesterday’s budget announcement, CPAWS’ caribou mascot took to the Canada 150 rink ice for a celebratory skate. CPAWS applauds yesterday’s announcement of 1.3 billion dollars over 5 years to protect Canada’s land, freshwater, and wildlife. This unprecedented investment will enable Canada to achieve its commitment to protect at least 17% of its land and freshwater by 2020. To date, Canada has protected 10.6% of its landscape. This investment is critical to deliver on the Prime Minister’s promise that Canada will achieve and substantially exceed this target in the coming years.
